Fundamental to the aims of the BMLT is to support people in Ireland who have leukaemia, and related diseases and have had or may need a stem cell transplant. We provide direct support for patients and their relatives – especially recognising the specific needs of those coming from outside Dublin during the many months of intensive treatment.
Through generous donations over the years, The Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust has acquired seven fully-furnished and serviced apartments in Kilmainham, Dublin, close to St. James’s Hospital. The apartments, which are next door to the Hilton Hotel, are available to patients’ outside Dublin who do not have family or friends close to St. James’s Hospital with whom they can stay.
Each apartment is tastefully decorated to the highest standards; meeting all the requirements of patients’ and their families, post stem cell transplantation. The apartments are offered gratis to as many patients and their families as possible.
The BMLT continues to fundraise, ensuring that patients’ and their families are not worried about the financial cost of living away from home, thus helping with recovery.
