Bone Marrow Donation Saved My Life – Kevin Rooney

In March 2010 at the age of 22, Kevin had a successful Bone Marrow Transplant after 6 months of chemo and radiotherapy. For Kevin the transplant was a cure! Kevin had an excellent interview on Cork’s 96fm Opinion Line on Monday 17th June 2024  You can hear Kevin’s interview here

Now Kev along with Niall, and Sean the dynamic trio, are taking on the Dublin City Marathon 2024 in a valiant effort to support the Bone Marrow Trust.

These lads are like the Three Musketeers of running, except instead of swords, they wield water bottles and protein bars.

Kev, the marathon maverick, has convinced Niall that running 26.2 miles is a fantastic idea. Niall, in turn, has roped in Sean, who thought they were signing up for a pub crawl and just realised it’s a different kind of marathon.

As they hit the pavement, Kev is leading the pack with his meticulously planned running playlist, featuring epic ’80s power ballads. Niall is contemplating the life choices that led him to this point, and Sean is wondering if he can stop for a pint at every water station. Despite their questionable reasons for signing up, these lads are determined to make it to the finish line.

They ask that if you can spare a few quid to help them raise some vital funds, please do! And if you see three lads in matching outfits, red-faced and panting, running through Dublin give them a cheer, or better yet, toss them a protein bar. They’re going to need all the support they can get!  Again you can hear Kevin’s interview here
